traffic light

OBJECTIVE: concepts in programming logic.

DIFICULTY: easy.

SUGGESTED KIT: 1 green LED module, 1 yellow LED module, 1 red LED module, 3 on/off switch modules and 6 cables (you can replace the on/off switch modules by buttons modules).

ACTIVITY:
In this project kids will assemble a model traffic light and simulate its operation.

Plug the LED modules into the switch modules and this one in the energy module. Do the same to the other 2 colors. Then, make a structure that resembles a traffic light and place the LEDs on it.
Using the buttons (switches), kids must replicate the traffic light logic, finding out the sequence of lights and the ideal time for each color.
The kids may observe a real traffic light and then discuss its logic.
In an extension, kids can build pedestrian traffic lights (green and red) and other traffic lights to simulate a crossing, allowing to expand the logic to a more complex scenery with cars and pedestrians passing by in several directions.
Each kid must tell the others about his/hers experience (how they've done it, what did they liked more, how does their's work and so on.

Document everything (test, take pictures, film it) and send us so we can publish it on the website :D
